Coon Rapids Drumline Wins State Championship!
The Coon Rapids High School Winter Drumline brought home the top honor at Saturday’s Minnesota Percussion Association State Finals Competition. The group won first place in Scholastic Class A, defeating 17 other drumlines from across Minnesota.
Coon Rapids scored 88.7 out of 100 points. The championship win topped off an undefeated season for the group, which presented its production of "Shift" written by Director Kevin Fuhrman. "Shift" depicts various sounds, speeds and moods and lets the music do the talking! The music represents examples of the many shifts in life, moving from one place to another, finishing one time of life and moving to another, and switching gears.
The drumline will wrap up its season next week, when it travels to the Winter Guard International Percussion World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, to compete.
Coon Rapids Winter Drumline is proud to present their 2008 production "Shift" written by Director, Kevin Fuhrman. The theme of this year is one of depicting various sounds, speeds and moods and letting the music do the talking! We all experience many shifts in life, moving from one place to another, finishing one time of life (school) and moving to another (work), having to "switch gears" when our plans aren't going the way they should. There are countless examples in each of our lives and this piece of music represents what some of that feels like.
